Swayzine - Influencer Marketing Insights

Good morning!

Do you feel like you get the LinkedIn algorithm? There are lots of people out there who share their tips and tricks on building followers and impressions on LinkedIn. I don’t purport to call myself an expert on this, but I’ve been changing things up a bit with how I post on the platform, and impressions on my LinkedIn posts have increased pretty dramatically in the past month or two.

Here is what I’ve learned:

  • Posting directly in the app works a lot better than posting via a scheduling tool. We used to use Hubspot for LinkedIn. My team and I would prep the posts on Monday morning and get them all entered into Hubspot for automatic posting throughout the week. From a marketing automation perspective, this was kind of nice, because we could track any leads that came in via the platform, but I’ve concluded that the LI algorithm is not a fan of outside scheduling tools, and our reach and engagement suffered. Not worth it!
  • Related, writing posts in advance is fine for certain topics, but content written and shared same day performs better. Our team does keep a little brainstorming doc where we share ideas and links, but I think it feels more fluid and natural to choose the topic and write the post on the same day it is shared. I can better comment on current trends and breaking news, and when something is top of mind, my posts are of higher quality.
  • If you have a question, ask it up top. I have learned to put the question up top, THEN tell a story and explain why I’m wondering about it. If I tell the story first and ask the question at the end, I lose a lot of the readers before they have a chance to chime in.
  • A mix of professional and personal posts is ideal. It’s nice to be able to insert my personality into my LinkedIn content, and let’s face it: we are all more than our professions.

Here are some of the most highly engaged posts from the past few weeks if you’d like to check any of them out!

Do you have any helpful LinkedIn tips that I’m missing? Please reach out and let me know! I’d love to try them.
